Hello everyone,
How do I get rid of that extra blank page when I print something? Believe me, I've looked everywhere on the printer section on YaST (I have "ending banner" set to none) but I can't find it. I know it may be in front of me but I really don't see it :(
Thanks, Jorge
I'm not sure whether this issue has been resolved yet, but if
not I'll throw in another suggestion which does not seem to
have been proposed yet.
Some software generating PostScript (especially Windows software)
tends to plant a Ctrl-D ("^D", \004, 0x0D) as the first byte of
the file.
This can confuse some printers.
The intention of it is to terminate (and hopefully flush) the
previous printing job in case it didn't terminate itself
properly and the printer is still hanging on for more input
(hence the association with "some software" -- if you didn't
need it you wouldn't put it in!).
a) Print to a file as PostScript, say testfile.ps
b) So an 'od -x' on the first few lines of the file, e.g.
head testfile.ps | od -x
and if it's there you should see the "^D" as "04".
Just a guess...
Best wishes and good luck,
Ted.
