Actually, no. It does seem to take a second for everything (ie. df) to display the disk, but if I use df -a then the disk shows up with the diskspace left available. Also, if you use the partitioner, you can specify where the disk will be automatically mounted. I'm using and external USB HD enclosure with a 2.5" disk in it. If you have any further questions, please let me know. -B -----Original Message----- From: Donn Washburn [mailto:n5xwb@hal-pc.org] Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2005 8:12 AM To: suse-linux-e List Subject: [SLE] auto mount of usb drives Hey Group; I have notice a problem with SuSE9.3 and auto mounting USB hard drives. First of all it mounts the drive to /media/usbdisk which is fine. However, "df" doesn't see it as mounted. Therefore, to determine the size or how full it is fails using "df". If I mount it directly where it /etc/fstab or not it does show % empty. Another bug is if I mount it directly it will then mount it again to a different /media/usb device. This causes all kinds of permission problems and headaches. Mounting it directly only works now and then also. I have even added several USB issues to mkinitrd. But it still only works if the USB drive has been left on for a long time. Just turn it on and boot it fails to mount. Lastly, if it worked correctly it would be very handy. However, not showing in the mount table is a bit confusing.
