I've used evolution mail client for all my mail, and it worked ok for a long time. (Suse 9.3 stock, system and KDE fully updated via YOU).
Now, it started to crash every time when I try to add new account, at the point where server type has to be chosen (e.g. imap)...
I tried to update, with no success. Then, I renamed my evolution folder, in order to hide the user data, then uninstalled and reinstalled program via Yast, again with no success. My account does not exist anymore, so the initial wizzard pops up now every time I start the program, asking me to set up new account. It crashes at the same point as before...It happens whatever the server typ I choose, not only for imap.
Is there anybody on the list to give a suggestion what to try next?
Remember, program *was* working correctly. Some change in system (and it was out of evolution directory) disturbed it, and I am not aware of which one it could be. All changes to original 9.3 installation were done only by yast and YOU.
Try creating a new user, login to the new user account and see if the same problem exists when adding a new account to evolution in the new user login account. This is to rule out whether or not it is a system/application problem.
I did it already while waiting for list response. There is the same problem even with the new user! OK, it was not a new user, it existed before, but it's a dummy one, created just for recreating defaults in cases of trouble. Evolution was never used by this user before. Again, the setup wizzard died at the same step... I am really confused with this. Thank you for the answer. Hope that this thread won't die before I get the solution :) ... I relied a lot on evolution. I have long history of my mails archived in local folders... solenoid
