I did it already while waiting for list response. There is the same problem even with the new user! OK, it was not a new user, it existed before, but it's a dummy one, created just for recreating defaults in cases of trouble. Evolution was never used by this user before. Again, the setup wizzard died at the same step...

Thank you for the answer. Hope that this thread won't die before I get the solution :) ... I relied a lot on evolution. I have long history of my mails archived in local folders...
Try re-installing evolution again from the DVD/CD. Perhaps something has become corrupted.

Or you might try starting it from the shell to see what error messages you get. Usually makes it easier to track doing that. regards, Lee
