I'm not going to jump through hoops to install KDE 3.4.1, I don't want to mess up my setup. [...] How would I know to upgrade to 1.8.1 and 3.4.1 ???
It's availabe in the supplementary directory. Add
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.3/yast-source
as an installation source in YaST and then go to "system update". That will get you kde 3.4.1
Very interesting. I didn't know such a possibility exist. Are there other packages that can be kept up-to-date the same way ? Or is there a more generic FTP location that can help to have the whole system up-to-date ? I tried your suggestion for KDE, but I was faced with 2 dependency conflicts (As I remember, one of them was about xine-mad, used by Kafeine.) Should the needed package have been on the FTP site, or is this an issue that has to be resolved "by hand" ?
