Thanks, I didn't spot 1.2.9 on freshmeat. I thought it was no longer being maintained.
Not everything needs to be constantly updated. If something is designed to perform a function, and it performs that function and no errors are found, there is little need to keep updating just for the sake of it. libdvdcss was designed to decrypt dvds, and so far it has done pretty well, at least on my discs. 1.2.8 was released almost exactly two years ago, and it's been decrypting DVDs on my machines ever since without any errors I've detected When something isn't touched for a long time, it could be a sign of quality, not death At least, that's what I keep telling myself :)
