Yes, I ran the sound test there. It gave me no error, but the speakers were still silent. Sean On Friday 13 May 2005 23:39, John Bailo wrote:
Have you run the tests in Control Center?
There is one under Sounds and Multimedia and also under Hardware/Sound card.

Hi all, I'm new to the mailing list and have a short list of problems getting SuSE 9.3 working 100% on my Gateway 3522GZ notebook. I'll just ask one thing at a time and maybe someone can help. If not, oh well. For the most part 9.3 has been fantastic; I didn't expect so much to just work like it has. Just a few lingering problems.
Sound
The built-in sound card was detected, and I get no errors at all. Everything seems fine; apps seem to be able to use the sound device, I can fiddle with KMix, etc.
My speakers, however, are silent. (headphones too)
Sound worked just hours before I installed SuSE 9.3 when the notebook still had Windows XP on it.
I've made sure ALL mutes are off (they already were) and both of the two hardware mutes (at the volume control and the keyboard) are off.
lspci reports:

lsmod reports that what I think is the right driver is loaded:
snd_intel8x0 31808 5
Just no sound coming out of the thingy.
Any ideas?
