I've downloaded the Doomsday 1.8.6 and tried to install it on my SuSE 9.1 box. "./configure" step is passed correctly; But, I recieve errors at the "make" step, last lines of which are here:
=============================== ranlib .libs/libdssdlmixer.a creating libdssdlmixer.la /usr/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/libvorbisfile.la: No such file or directory
joe@jmorris:~> rpm -qf /usr/lib64/libvorbisfile.la libvorbis-devel-1.1.0-0.pm.0 This looks to me like a libvorbis-devel error, not SDL-mixer-devel error, since the file it cannot find is in the libvorbis-devel package.
The software's developer says that I need libvorbis-devel and SDL_mixer-devel.
joe@jmorris:~> rpm -ql SDL_mixer /usr/bin/playmus /usr/bin/playwave /usr/include/SDL/SDL_mixer.h /usr/lib64/libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0 /usr/lib64/libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0.2.3 /usr/lib64/libSDL_mixer.a /usr/lib64/libSDL_mixer.la /usr/lib64/libSDL_mixer.so /usr/share/doc/packages/SDL_mixer /usr/share/doc/packages/SDL_mixer/CHANGES /usr/share/doc/packages/SDL_mixer/README I could be wrong, but I suspect since there appears to be only one develepment file listed, i.e. /usr/include/SDL/SDL_mixer.h, that SuSE decided not to create a separate devel package that would only have one file in it.
Suse has the former but not the latter. I installed libvorbis-devel only, and was not helpful. Did you have the same error? You did run configure again? If you are sure that suse does not need SDL_mixer-devel, tell me to contact him again. I believe the include file IS the devel files, and is included in the SDL_mixer rpm, so it does have it, just not in a separate package. I am not positive though. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Registered Linux user 231871
