Hey all,
I'm running 9.2 Pro, and according to ALSA, this Audigy2 card should be supported. I've run the YaST hardware thing for sound cards, and it has 'audigy' in the list, but when I choose this, the next page shows up with an error reading
'The kernel module snd-emu10k1 for sound support could not be loaded'
Does anyone have any idea what might be happening here?
Do you get anything in /var/log/messages?
I see this a few times: Apr 4 17:30:11 linux kernel: ALSA sound/core/memory.c:71: Not freed snd_alloc_kmalloc = 820 Apr 4 17:30:11 linux kernel: ALSA sound/core/memory.c:80: kmalloc(820) from e16f93de not freed And one of these: Apr 5 16:19:11 linux kernel: Creative EMU10K1 PCI Audio Driver, version 0.20a, 12:07:12 Oct 6 2004
Did you perhaps upgrade the kernel and not reboot yet?
I haven't upgraded the kernel, it's still the stock default from the original installation.
What happens if you run "modprobe snd-emu10k1" from a command line (as root)?
Nothing. It just gets to another same kind of prompt waiting for another command. Here's what I see from lsmod: soundcore 9056 2 emu10k1,sound snd_page_alloc 10248 0 emu10k1 72196 0 sound 76204 1 emu10k1 Lots of other stuff in lsmod, but none to do with sound, I think.
