Hi all, I'm having login trouble with Squirrelmail. When I try to log in, I get "Unknown user or password incorrect." My server is setup with pam/LDAP authentication, and Cyrus for imap. I can log into cyrus imap via evolution without any problem. What does squirrelmail look at for authentication? I would have thought it authenticates against the imap server, regardless? Here's what I get from my logs. Setting squirrelmail to use digest-md5, I get: Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules master[6970]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus/bin/imapd Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: executed Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: accepted connection Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: DIGEST-MD5 server step 1 Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: DIGEST-MD5 server step 2 Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: No such file or directory Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: No such file or directory Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: no secret in database Apr 7 16:18:00 hercules imap[6970]: badlogin: localhost [127.0.0.1] DIGEST-MD5 [SASL(-13): user not found: no secret in database] Setting squirrelmail to usecram-md5, I get: Apr 7 16:18:59 hercules imap[6970]: accepted connection Apr 7 16:18:59 hercules imap[6970]: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: No such file or directory Apr 7 16:18:59 hercules imap[6970]: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: No such file or directory Apr 7 16:18:59 hercules imap[6970]: no secret in database Apr 7 16:18:59 hercules imap[6970]: badlogin: localhost [127.0.0.1] CRAM-MD5 [SASL(-13): user not found: no secret in database] Setting squirrelmail to login (plaintext), I get: Apr 7 16:19:28 hercules imap[6970]: accepted connection Apr 7 16:19:28 hercules PAM-warn[2154]: function=[pam_sm_authenticate] service=[imap] terminal=[<unknown>] user=[hansdp] ruser=[<unknown>]rhost=[<unknown>] Apr 7 16:19:28 hercules saslauthd[2154]: pam_ldap: error trying to bind as user "uid=hansdp,ou=people,dc=example,dc=com" (Invalid credentials) Apr 7 16:19:28 hercules saslauthd[2154]: DEBUG: auth_pam: pam_authenticate failed: Authentication failure Apr 7 16:19:28 hercules saslauthd[2154]: do_auth : auth failure: [user=hansdp] [service=imap] [realm=] [mech=pam] [reason=PAM autherror] Apr 7 16:19:28 hercules imap[6970]: badlogin: localhost [127.0.0.1] plaintext hansdp SASL(-13): authentication failure: checkpass failed Apr 7 16:20:31 hercules master[2163]: process 6970 exited, status 0 Apr 7 16:20:35 hercules imaps[6209]: open: user hansdp opened INBOX Apr 7 16:20:35 hercules imaps[6209]: seen_db: user hansdp opened /var/lib/imap/user/h/hansdp.seen Using plaintext with tls enabled, I get: Apr 7 16:22:03 hercules master[6982]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus/bin/imapd Apr 7 16:22:03 hercules imap[6982]: executed Apr 7 16:22:03 hercules imap[6982]: accepted connection Apr 7 16:22:03 hercules imap[6982]: Connection reset by peer, closing connection and the messages quirrelmail gives changes to: "Error connecting to IMAP server: tls://localhost" But when logging in successfully with Evolution, I get: Apr 7 16:21:30 hercules imaps[6209]: accepted connection Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules master[6979]: about to exec /usr/lib/cyrus/bin/ctl_cyrusdb Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules ctl_cyrusdb[6979]: checkpointing cyrus databases Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules ctl_cyrusdb[6979]: archiving database file: /var/lib/imap/annotations.db Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules ctl_cyrusdb[6979]: archiving log file: /var/lib/imap/db/log.0000000001 Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules ctl_cyrusdb[6979]: archiving database file: /var/lib/imap/mailboxes.db Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules ctl_cyrusdb[6979]: archiving log file: /var/lib/imap/db/log.0000000001 Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules ctl_cyrusdb[6979]: done checkpointing cyrus databases Apr 7 16:21:32 hercules master[2163]: process 6979 exited, status 0 Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules imaps[6209]: mydelete: starting txn 2147483677 Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules imaps[6209]: mydelete: committing txn 2147483677 Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules imaps[6209]: mystore: starting txn 2147483678 Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules imaps[6209]: mystore: committing txn 2147483678 Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules imaps[6209]: starttls: SSLv3 with cipher RC4-MD5 (128/128 bits new) no authentication Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules imaps[6209]: OTP unavailable because can't read/write key database /etc/opiekeys: Permission denied Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules PAM-warn[2145]: function=[pam_sm_authenticate] service=[imap] terminal=[<unknown>] user=[hansdp] ruser=[<unknown>]rhost=[<unknown>] Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules PAM-warn[2145]: function=[pam_sm_acct_mgmt] service=[imap] terminal=[<unknown>] user=[hansdp] ruser=[<unknown>] rhost=[<unknown>] Apr 7 16:21:35 hercules imaps[6209]: login: [192.168.16.25] hansdp plaintext+TLS Any ideas?
