I believe if you insert the install CD there is an option to repair the package database. Might want to give that a try.
Sorry, meant to say boot from the install disc. I did. It was unable to fix the problem.
Normally, I prefer to try to fix problems (being a software developer),
but since I was going to move the SuSE 9.0 root partition to another
partition, I might as well reinstall.
Also, my CD drive is SCSI, and apparently the SCSI driver for my card is
not supported in the 2.6 kernel. When I installed, I had done a HD
install. I had copied the DVD image from my laptop.
