Searching the net it's easy to find numerous resources explaining how to get hibernate or suspend to disk working with Linux and Laptops. I want the opposite. I've set up a small, home webserver on an old Dell Latitude, running Suse 9.1. I have not installed a GUI. I'd like to close the lid and place piles of stuff on the laptop, as I'm a disorganized slob and never have enough real-life deskspace. However, closing the lid places the laptop in suspend mode. Re-opening it brings it back to life, but all network connectivity is lost until I reboot. SO for the time being the laptop must stay open. I'm guessing there's something very simple I could do to disable the suspend mode, but I don't know what it is. To get really picky now, an extra bonus would be if I could close the lid and have the display automatically shut off, yet keep the system responsive to network requests. Is that doable? Thanks, Steve
