Hi fellows, I have been reading your interaction, and felt the urge (at this late stage) to just add a little. On Sunday 17 April 2005 09:07, Fred A. Miller wrote:

I guess I've tried it now, and can forget about it. I think, like Fred, that when Novell packages apt with SuSE officially, I'll give it another look. Until then, I note that 1) the packman xine packages install fine by hand (I've used them for years), and 2) red-carpet is now being included in the distro, and though the software it provides may be buggy, I've not seen it screw up my system.
GLAD to hear it's included......as I like RC.

I used Yast to install SuSE 9.1 Then Yast refused to install any extra code and would only list stuff already installed. So I gave up on Yast and used rpm for other stuff. But when I recently tried to install Adobe 7 it did nothing other than to stuff up Acrobat 5.0 I am convinced that Yast has a bug. I bought 9.1 because Yast gave me problems with 9.0 Just my tuppence worth. Colin -------------------------------------------------------
