some basic questions :)
1- where can i configure the SFW so that it would log to a separate file instead of to warn and messages logs
The logs messages are sent to the syslog daemon, so it's up to that daemon to decide where to put them - up to a point. You can configure it in /etc/syslog.conf. See the man page for details.
2- can SFW log directly to a mysql database? if so how `??
You need some kind of post-processing for that. The firewall, certainly doesn't. The syslog daemon, neither. There is an improved daemon, syslog-ng (next generation), but I don't think it does that. It has "filtering based on message content", and you need that to separate the FW entries. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
