I am trying to do a backup of my 9.2 setup so I can switch to 9.3 but I keep getting these errors: --------------------------------- rsync: chgrp "/windows/E/usrlocal/local/ssl/private" failed: Operation not permitted (1)

the "$td" is supposed to be the datestamp, but I don't have the syntax right. td=?`date +%y%m%d`
remove the "?" try the following options as well, (also this should be run as root): rsync -varpltz /usr/local /windows/E/usrlocal$td r=recursive,p=perms,l=links,t=timestamps,z=compression(optional but great when going across a wan connection) The error seems to point to insufficient rights to use chgrp which would mean you were not running this as root. man rsync will give more detailed info for the switches. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge
