that was something that happened when I changed the encoder. I tried to send the message and it said no ... select an appropriate encoder.
try the following options as well, (also this should be run as root):
rsync -varpltz /usr/local /windows/E/usrlocal$td r=recursive,p=perms,l=links,t=timestamps,z=compression(optional but great when going across a wan connection)
The error seems to point to insufficient rights to use chgrp which would mean you were not running this as root.
I did a sux to change to root, maybe I should be in init 1 or no users logged in ?
man rsync will give more detailed info for the switches.
