That was the ticket. I downgraded and checked The Gimp and all is well. Now, is this a unusual problem that just a few are experiencing or is there a bug in gtk-qt-engine or The Gimp? If it's a bug with the gtk-qt-engine, where should it be reported? I saw these on my system last week. Could you check what version of gtk-qt-engine is installed? If it's 0.6cvsomething, could you try downgrading it to 0.5.9?
