I use thinkpad G40, suse linux 9.1 and in this notebook is a cdrw+dvd-r boundled (as some notebooks). Today I was downloaded the last upgrade to kernel and package via YaST. After this, when I insert a cd in the cdrom drive, don't see any if I click on the cd icon (mycompter). Also if I change su root user and try to mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom, nothing. Searching via google I found more information how to change the /dev link to cdrom if it is scsi, but in the thinkpad the cd is simple ide (in my suse show /dev/hdc). this is my etc/fstab /dev/hda1 / reiserfs acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/hda2 swap swap pri=42 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs fs=floppyfss, procuid, nodev, nosuid, sync 0 0 /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 I found also a tips on the suse portal knowledge base that suggest to change some parameters on the /etc/sysconfig/kernel file adding the string "ide-cd" after "reiserfs" on the initrd entry, but also nothing. Can any one help me ? (this problem is it caused by udev file system in the new kernel relase of linux??) thanks in advance -- Kalos Bonasia
