Darned if I can see anything wrong with this. I'd get Knoppix, Mandrake Move or some other live-cd and try to burn something with it: AFAIK they all support CD burning. But CDRWs are cheap enough now (and fail often enough too) that having two in the house isn't such a bad idea. Good luck! -- N. B.
