I have a large list of photographs taken with an incorrect date, year, set on the camera and would like to change to the correct date. I need to search and replace 2002: to 2004: in jpg and orf files. The string appears as text in both file types.
Patrick, you can do it several ways (typical Linux), a small shell script, similar to: #!/bin/sh for I in * do echo $i mv $i `basename $i`.bak done Or in perl (and create a backup) perl -p -i.bak -e '2000/2004/g' *.jpg (or whatever) Untested, but should work (might want to back them up first) However, the old files from the script should be saved as a backup as 2000.jpg.bak but it is a good idea to back them up manually first. <g> -- Gary
