If I had a number of Desktops (only up to about 20 max) with 4gig ram and an internal (no user access) fast cdrom, no HD or Floppy, running off a 1gigabyte network with their personal storage area on a server.
Set SuSE up to make a ram disc on powerup of the desktop and run from that and the cdrom (for apps, etc)
Can anyone see why it shouldn't work?
Any gotcha's (other than the obvious powerfail one)?
thanks in advance for answers
scsijon ps else i'll just do a straight move.
Seem like a perfectly workable solution to me. As long as you set one box up, you should be able to get the rest up and running, If they are all identical, its just a matter of getting ONE up, and 100% operational and then make the CD. I would use a HD in that box for starets, to make sure all software is up and configured., and then make a CD ISO as explained on a lot of different sites. (No URL at this time. Sorry) Sounds like a nice litte project Good luck! -- /Rikard --------------------------------------------------------------- Rikard Johnels email : rikjoh@norweb.se Web : http://www.rikjoh.com Mob : +46 735 05 51 01 PGP : 0x461CEE56 ---------------------------------------------------------------
