If I try to run "yast backup" I get a sigseg. Same goes for trying "System Backup" and several others from the YaST menu.
It may be related, but all attempts to upgrade to 9.2 also fail with it being unable to mount root partition. /usr and /var are on LVMs, but / and /boot are not.
The drives in the machine are standard IDE (ata100) drives, /dev/hda and /dev/hdc. The root drive is /dev/hda3.

The core + gdb suggests some sort of infinite loop, I was ~4000 stack frames deep into 'bt' when I gave up.
I've figured it out.
First, a recent update to 9.1's backup/storage module let it work again.
Secondly, when the current /dev/hda was /dev/hdc that fact was noted in
/var/lib/hardware/unique-keys. Removing the files there and allowing
them to rebuilt allowed me to upgrade to 9.2 successfully. Yay!
