I've got 3 systems in this office running 9.2 Professional. The laptop uses DHCP, the two desktops have static IP addresses. The sysconfig proxy lists an http proxy and no ftp proxy. The /etc/sysconfig/proxy scripts are identical on the two desktop systems, yet on the newer desktop, when I use YOU, the "Retrieving information..." box completes immediately and YOU says there are no patches even when I click on reload all patches. The older desktop system and the laptop both access the mirror and retrieve the patches.
I did a successful rpm --rebuilddb.
As an example, I checked the installed version of imlib on the older system, and it is 1.9.14-188.2, where on the newer system it is 1.9.14-188 which indicates that the rpm database should be ok on the newer system.
I shutdown to single user mode, completely cleaned out /tmp, and then went
back to run level 5, and was able to run YOU successfully.
