I've been using rsync to backup my files. Since the beginning I've been getting this error message: rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(633) <snip>
Through the process of elimination I found the other files that are not being copied and why. Here is a partial list:
send_files failed to open "/sys/bus/pci/drivers/Promise Old IDE/new_id": Permission denied
With the 2.6 kernels, /sys is similar to /proc, and should be excluded as well.

All of it? I put these in my exclude file: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/ /sys/class/scsi_host/ /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ This took care of the error messages. Am I harming my system with respect to restoring by keeping the rest of sys? Thanks, Jerome
