I used Konqueror to print Johannes' article above, successfully selecting the duplex option, so much of the system seems to be working.
I tried printing from LyX, my customary word processor, and it's totally broken. No evidence of the Cups info in the printing dialog, and when I put the printer name in place of "lp" there's a message in .X.err: lpr: unable to print file: server-error-service-unavailable Changing the Printer settings in LyX to use lp as the spool command and -p for the To printer option string just gives the same error with "lp" in place of "lpr". I guess I need to know what all the Cups options are so I can fill in all the little boxes in LyX, if that'll do the job. I'd use lpoptions -l if I only could. I'm on LyX 1.3.2 using Qt, so it should have been able to act as a sensible client to Cups, but not with what I've got now, apparently. Printing from LyX isn't vital, but the fact that I can't do it probably gives some diagnostics, if I knew more about Cups in general. Someday soon I'm sure I will... FWIW, Jim
