Last night, the following command (run from a backup script) started to fail: mtst -f /dev/nst0 tell The failure message is: /dev/nst0: Inappropriate ioctl for device The only thing that changed from the day before (that I can think of) is that a new kernel was installed via YOU: kernel-syms-2.6.5-7.111.19 Wed 22 kernel-source-2.6.5-7.111.19 Wed 22 kernel-docs-2.6.5-7.111.19 Wed 22 kernel-default-2.6.5-7.111.19 Wed 22 Has anyone else seen this problem? P.S. Other tape activity seems to work just fine, for example the following works just fine: mtst -f /dev/nst0 status As do the backup and restore commands. -- Robert C.
