Hi List,
At SUSE's SDB pages http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/hmeyer_91_revert_from_subfs.html I found the exact fstab entries for 'dvd' and 'floppy' drives, but there was not mentioned, how the options for the 'dvd' should be modified e.g. in case of CD(recorder) or DVD(recorder) devices. There was also no detailed description for ZIP-drives, so in case it's possible, please help me to make the correct entries, e.g. at present I use
/dev/dvdrecorder /media/dvdrecorder auto noauto,user,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0 /dev/sda1 /media/zippo vfat noauto,user,exec,sync 0 0
So actually for 'dvdrecorder' I just removed the read-only flag compared to 'dvd'
The fstab entry is actually only used when mounting an already burned disc, so whether you have that flag there or not, it will always be mounted read only. The fstab entry has no bearing at all on the settings for burning discs, that is done by working directly with the raw device
and for my parallel ZIP-drive I attempt to use 'floppy's defaults, except, that I defined vfat here: till now everything seems to work. I have SUSE 9.1 with automount disabled, so would be crucial for me to know the "real defaults", and not to try improvizing...
Your options look good to me
