I am trying to stop SuSEfirewall from loading during boot time. So, when I chkconfig it off, it complains: ... newone:/etc/sysconfig # /sbin/chkconfig SuSEfirewall2_init off /sbin/insserv failed, exit code 0 newone:/etc/sysconfig # /sbin/chkconfig | grep SuSE SuSEfirewall2_final on SuSEfirewall2_init on SuSEfirewall2_setup on ...
When I also try to use YAST, there is a failure to turn it off. Unfortunately, there are no errors in the messages file.
Is my only way to edit the actual init script and remove the start levels? Or, am I missing some software?
You need to do it in the proper order chkconfig SuSEfirewall2_final off chkconfig SuSEfirewall2_setup off chkconfig SuSEfirewall2_init off or you could go to yast2->security & users->firewall and tell it to disable the firewall
