I am thinking about getting a Creative MuVo Micro N200 and am wondering if it works under suse 9.1. If so, is it a kernel thing, because I use kernel 2.6.9 vanilla. Thanks!
It looks like an upgraded version of the Nomad MuVo I've got, which works fine with SuSE 9.1. I've heard of a few problems if you use submount, though I didn't personally experience any, and submount can be disabled. My MuVo doesn't seem to require any special software for formatting, as described in www.linux-usb.org, but works fine with a vfat file system. In any case, copy mp3s to and from the MuVo is pretty easy. It's to Creative's advantage to make the device work. Anything nonstandard won't let you do easy file transfer so they should use vfat. However, you may have to try it and see. In practice, I've found WinXP more problematic than SuSE for pen drives because it tries to assign drive letters that have already been assigned. This is a typical piece of crass M$ design: you get problems because XP can't handle a simple feature that was obsolete 15 years ago. -- JDL
