No, I don;t believe that is correct, since I have been editing the KDE menu in Red Hat 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8, 9 and FC1 (I always prefered KDE to Gnome) without a problem. I recently switched to Suse 9.1 and was quite dissapointed that it is broken since it has worked so well before. I tried updating KDE through YOU but it did not help. Gus.
Most odd - I have no problems editing the KDE menu here, using SUSE 9.1. The only thing to watch out for is that you have to save the edits explicitly, rather than simply quiting the editor. When the menu is saved, an update process is started, so perhaps this is the weak link on the systems that don't work properly (the update process not being started, that is)?
It's not a case of not saving. It's a real bug, that I experienced and SuSE knows about. http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2003/11/jbartsh_kmenu.html
