Thanks for the response. I'm thinking that is what i'll have to do, unless I can get a better solution from Dell or Novell. If I do, I will post it here. Thanks, Ryan

10/12/2004 8:06:06 AM >>> I am attempting to install (SLES) 9 on a Dell PowerEdge 2550 and everytime I get to the GUI part of the install, the server will reboot itself. I am on the latest version on the Dell 2550 bios which is A09. Have you guys seen this happen anywhere else, or have any ideas on why this might be happening?
I had the same thing happen to me. I made it through the install (eventually), and the system is perfectly stable in the console, but any time I'm in X, I run the risk of a spontaneous reboot. I had thought it had something to do with system load (took me forever to get Oracle installed), but it's also happened running fvwm and ethereal with practically no traffic coming or going from the system. I suspect that there's some problem with the fact that the video memory is shared with the system memory and something is getting trampled. I ended up posting a sign on mine telling people not to go into X. -- trey -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
