on Fri, 15 Oct 2004 08:56:57 -0700 I am using Gnome 2.8 from ulb on Suse 9.1 Pro. I have a problem while trying to change themes. When I open gnome-control-center and double-click on themes, I get
The default theme schemas could not be found on your system. This means that you probably don't have metacity installed, or that your gconf is configured incorrectly.
I have metacity installed however.
% rpm -qa | grep metacity metacity-themes-0.1-482 metacity-2.8.6-100.SuSE.ulb.1
Any idea what could be wrong?
I just made a similar post. I also reported it to bugzilla.
Have you tried loggin in as root, to see if the problem goes away? Mine did.
I think it is a permissions problem, but I cannot determine where.
I've not had that particular problem, but did have difficulties with theme changes in that the control centre would just crash. This has resolved with the latest update but, previously, logging out, deleting ~/.gconf, and logging back in again, would resolve the issue. David
