I am on a roll with this wireless stuff. :) I was looking for a way under SuSE 9.1 to browse for available wireless networks and look for open nets to attach to (like you could do under Windows XP), and came across the kwifimanager program. It looks like what I need, and it does display the currently attached ESSID, signal strength, MAC address of the access point, local IP, etc., it also successfully scans and displays a list of other networks in the neighborhood. However, kwifimanager does not appear to be well integrated with the SuSE /etc/sysconfig/network/* stuff. If I try switching to another available ESSID, it might attach successfully but does not seem to invoke DHCP to set up the interface for actual functionality (even though that net is not encrypted and does not require a key to access). Is there a remedy or is there something I am doing wrong? -Ti -- Ti Kan http://www.amb.org/ti Vorsprung durch Technik
