Has anyone had success following SuSE's instructions for enabling 3D support for DRI (not nVidia) with Xorg 6.8.1-14.1? Here are their instructions from the README file: ------------------------- 2) 3D Support a) nVidia driver users * reinstall nVidia driver * Details: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO b) DRI users (driver: i810, mga, r128, radeon, tdfx) * install + update "kernel-source" package with YaST + YOU * compile and install new DRM kernel modules with pushd /usr/src/linux; rm -f .config; make cloneconfig; popd pushd /usr/src/kernel-modules/drm KERNEL_SOURCE=/usr/src/linux make modules KERNEL_SOURCE=/usr/src/linux make install popd -------------------------- My system (SuSE 9.1, kernel 2.6.5-7.108) stops with an error at the "make modules" stage, complaining about a missing system/genksyms/genksyms file when it tries to compile via_mm.o. Has anyone else run into that problem, and if so, how did you resolve it?
