SuSE9.1/KDE3.3.1 on a LAN with a HPDJ612C on a WinXP Pro machine. I am rapidly losing my mind (not saying too much) and pulling out what little hair I have left. Lpr used to work, at least some of the time with some files, but I changed the paper size from A4 (the default) to letter. That broke something (I don't have the faintest idea as to what) so I decided to install CUPS. (I have been totally frustrated by CUPS in the past - but now I'm desperate). So I installed CUPS (via YAST2) and am attempting to configure the thing. If I use yast2 to configure the printer all goes well until I attempt to Test remote SMB access I get the following: There was a problem. You specified an invalid queue name on the printer server, the printer server does not accept print jobs, or the queue on the printer server does not accept print jobs. Return from remote server: PING <address> etc 0 packet loss added interface, etc Connection to ffc failed. I then attempted to use the KDE Printer Manager Add Printer Wizardand selected SMB shared printer (Windows) and used my password on the Windows machine All went well until finish. Then I got the following: Unable to create printer. Error message received from manager: You are not authorized to access the requested resource. One thing that I'm curious about is what is the name of the printer on the win box. I've tried everything that I can think of to no avail. At this point I don't have the foggiest ideas as to what to attempt next. I have no problems going from the linux maching to the WinXP machine to move files, but moving the file that I want to print to the Win machine and then printing it there is rather cumbersome. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Stephen P.
