I am on a roll with this wireless stuff. :)
It is alot of fun :)
I was looking for a way under SuSE 9.1 to browse for available wireless networks and look for open nets to attach to (like you could do under Windows XP), and came across the kwifimanager program. It looks like what I need, and it does display the currently attached ESSID, signal strength, MAC address of the access point, local IP, etc., it also successfully scans and displays a list of other networks in the neighborhood.
Personally I prefer iwlist scan or kismet, but I'm not really a kde person. .
Is there a remedy or is there something I am doing wrong?
No, I've written a few scripts that allow me to easily switch SSID's and settings followed by hupping the interface. I suspect that there will be a few improvements in 9.2 related to wifi though. Regards, Ben
