OK, I'm finally up again after my 4th reinstall. I have not accepted the nvidia driver update from YOU, so the display at least works but has the problem of a completely screwed up display on the console once X is started (switching back with ctrl-alt-f1 gives an unreadable display that rapidly scrolls up the screen). Same on shutdown. So, how do I change the settings in XF86config? Sax2 doesn't give all of the possible options. The XF86config file itself is plastered with notices NOT to manually edit the file. What's the correct way to fiddle with the settings to see if I can get this display problem fixed before I try downloading the nvidia driver update?
