Hello, On Oct 28 13:31 Herbert Georg wrote (shortened):
$ smbclient //joaquina/LaserJet -U ********%******** -c 'print teste.txt' ... and the printer prints readily. But when I try to configure the SMB printer through YAST, it gives me the following error message (just the last lines):
Testing LaserJet on joaquina Anonymous login successful tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
It seems to me that the program is not using the username and password I gave to it. The intriguing thing is that performing exactly the same operations in the Suse 9.0, I am able to configure the SMB printer easily. All that indicates a bug in YAST 9.1.
There was a bug in YaST in 9.0, see http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2003/11/jsmeix_print-smb-90.html but in 9.1 there schould be no bug in YaST in this case. Because of several similar user feedback it seems something has changed in Samba how it uses username and password. In 9.0 there was Samba 2.x version and in 9.1 it is Samba 3.x i.e. there was a major version upgrade for Samba. Nevertheless have a look at http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2003/11/jsmeix_print-smb-90.html and check if the DeviceURI in /etc/cups/printers.conf is correct and have a look at http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/04/pohletz_cups_xp.html It may at least provide you a workaround.
