I tried to define, that independently, what is or isn't in my dvdrecorder device, 'updatedb' should not check it's content. Now even, that I think I managed it on the right place with YAST's Sysconfig Editor, 'locate' reports still an error as:
/usr/bin/find: /media/dvdrecorder: No medium found
Could anybody tell me, what I'm doing wrong?!
I don't get it clear: do you want or not your '/media/dvdrecorder' drive scanned by updatedb? If you want it scanned, and configure it through Yast, you are asking for trouble; but go ahead, configure it. Removable media are normally skipped from the automated updatedb process run from cron: UPDATEDB_PRUNEPATHS="/mnt /cdrom /tmp /usr/tmp /var/tmp /var/spool /proc /media /windows" Just remove the '/media' word. To get it scanned, the device must be mounted at the time updatedb runs automatically every day. Else, you can run updatedb manually as root, and the above setting will be ignored (it will scan every that is mounted at that time). The database file will stay put for a day; or you may save the results on a different file: see the man page for details (don't ask me, I would have to look it up myself. But it works, I did it once). -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
