Tried the "hide dot files = yes" in both the global and directory sections. But it doesn't load. And i get no errors in the log testparm doesnt show the command either:
testparm doesn't show it because it is the default value. Use "testparm -v" to see all variables, including those set to default values 'hide dot files' won't hide the files, just give them the 'hidden' attribute. Do you perhaps have 'view hidden files' activated in windows? Look at the file properties in your windows browser and check if the attribute is set
