I am running SuSE Linux Professional 8.0 on a server, and its been very reliable for the last few years, right now there isn't a need to upgrade it to a newer SuSE release, so I want to solve this problem.
Just recently when I try to install or remove software via YaST the installer freezes. This happens using both the KDE/QT and ncurses interface. An example of where it freezes on the ncurses interface is here: ... ││ │Reading package information; one moment please...│ ... It basically stops at this screen and doesn't get any further, the KDE/QT screen is pretty much the same.
Try 'yast ws_single' in a terminal window. You should now see error messages, if any. Cheers, Leen
