That article is about Novell desktop, which is sold to corporate clients, not SuSE Linux, which is sold to consumers.
To Mr. Knott: It matter not what name it is called, just that I have a feeling both will be the same at that time, and users/consumers will be getting a crippled version of the business model. I happily use SuSe Ver.9.0 and ,regretfully, do not see any more "upgrades" in my future. :-(
The corporate releases, tend to be more conservative and less "bleeding edge" than the consumer releases. For example, the current SuSE release is 9.1, with 9.2 due out shortly. But the servers etc., are still on 9.0 or 8.2. IBM did the same thing with OS/2 desktop and servers. They waited until the latest version had been in use long enough, to resolve most of the problems, before building a server on it.
