Desiring a high quality scanner for my office, I looked to the SANE page for suggestions. My preference was to go with an epson and the final decision based on price, performance, and Linux compatibility, based on the info from the SANE page, was the Epson 4870. Scanner arrived today, I hooked it up, and viola, it's NOT supported! At least I can't get it to be seen with my 9.0 install with all the latest updates. Not using 9.1 which I also have due to ALL the usb problems. YsST offers about 20 options for Epson but the 4870 is not among them. So I jumped out to the pacman site and downloaded all the latest sane stuff for SuSE, installed it, and when I was done, I now had 2 options for Epson. Dumped that, reinstalled from the distro DVD, and now am back to the original options, but no better off than before. Does anyone have any ideas on getting the Epson 4870 to work with SuSE 9.0? tnx, dave -- David C.
