hello i am trying to get an artec ultima 2000 scanner work under suse 9.1 this should be done via the gt68xx backend of sane. i've been through http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/gt68xx-backend/. sane-find-scanner reports me: found USB scanner (vendor=0x05d8, product=0x4002, chip=GT-6801?) at libusb:001:002 # scanimage -L [sanei_debug] Setting debug level of gt68xx to 3. [gt68xx] SANE GT68xx backend version 1.0 build 49 from sane-backends 1.0.13 [gt68xx] attach: found Mustek flatbed scanner BearPaw 1200 CU at libusb:001:002 device `gt68xx:libusb:001:002' is a Artec Ultima 2000 flatbed scanner I uploaded the firmware in /usr/share/sane/gt68xx as ePlus2k.usb. The, i try installing the scanner via Yast. Yast offers me the list of scanners, i choose the Artec ultima 2000 and then yast tells me it ca't do a test scan 'cause first i must upload the firmware. I *think* i have the right permission for the firmware (the manual specified that the file must be accessed by anyone, so I have -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8192 2000-12-04 20:36 ePlus2k.usb. I try to scan something via xscanimage, but nothing moves in the scanner and i only get an image like after a noise effect. So, i tried running in debug mode: # export SANE_DEBUG_GT68XX=3D255 ; scanimage > test and the output is something like: [sanei_debug] Setting debug level of gt68xx to 3. [gt68xx] SANE GT68xx backend version 1.0 build 49 from sane-backends 1.0.13 [gt68xx] attach: found Mustek flatbed scanner BearPaw 1200 CU at libusb:001:002 [gt68xx] sane_open: firmware still not loaded?
