I added the ide=reverse so my SATA drive is hda instead of hde and hdc=none to prevent about a 30 second delay looking for a non-existent 2nd SATA drive. So, I guess my questions are,
What is splash and all its options?
splash=silent (to only display a graphic on console 1) and splash=verbose (show the boot messages)
What is desktop?
A SuSE addition to the kernel AFAIR. It should make a computer more responsive if it is a desktop (versus a server)
What is showopts?
Show the boot options on the grub command line (boot options to the right of the showopts command)
What other parameters/options/commands are available to me?
see the kernel doc mentioned already
Where are they documented?
I have picked this up by learning from this list over time, and by trial and error. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Registered Linux user 231871
