I'm not familiar with that situation; but as you mention the "PatchCD from SuSE", I'd guess you bought the distro: in that case, I would recomend you use the free installation support from SuSE. If you didn't buy it, and you have enough bandwidth, perhaps you could try with the 9.1 version (or the live eval). ...
