The 'rcxntpd restart' command has been scripted & that script is called by another which checks the internet connection on a regular basis & restarts it, if necessary. The problem lies in the fact that, thought the ntpd is restarting and gives me the new pid to prove it, it is (1)not logged by the kernel; (2)doesn't synch the clock. Only a manual restart from cli logs & actually works. NTPD PIDs grep'd from cli... before internet goes down: 16027 (ntp working/logging) after script has been executed: 16268 (ntp not working/logging) after manual script execution: 16302 (ntp again working/logging) What gives? I would have thought that it would work whether or not it was called from cli. Thanks for any insight! -- ...CH "Home is the place you can scratch where it itches."
