I have a jpg file and nee to make a smaller picture for the web. I would like to use a command line to make from picture.jpg a picture_s.jpg
Is something like that available?
I use djpeg(1) and cjpeg(1), which are part of the jpeg package. You can do something like this: djpeg -scale 1/4 < picture.jpg | cjpeg -optimize > picture_s.jpg This produces a pictures_s.jpg that is one fourth the size of picture.jpg. You may also want to use the -quality option on cjpeg to set the output quality. -Ti
