We are having a problem with telnet sessions dying off and was wondering if anybody else is having the same problem or any suggestions as to what the problem may be. System Software: SuSE 8.2 - Can't change this. Xinetd - telnet, ftpd - Can't change these. sshd lpd - Can't change this either. Linux ABI - Need this as well. Description: We have an application server that has 150 to 250 telnet users. Occasionally (about once a month), there will be an abrubt, mass die-off of telnet sessions - not all sessions, but most. The Xinetd log says the sessions were stopped with a signal 2. Looking through the sar logs, the system was not under any load at the time of the die off and there is no indication of anything else being out of the ordinary in any of the other logs. The only thing common between the occurences has been the fact that an administrator was performing a task on a printer right before the die-off. The one time I was able to reproduce the problem was when I used lprm to clean a printer spool. My ssh session, along with most of the telnet sessions ended abrubtly. The reason I was cleaning the spool was I noticed that some of the lpd processes were using over 140MB of virtual memory, according to top, due to dead printers. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Mike
