Greetings,
Now see here lads, I am trying something here and am not satisfied with
some of the perks mentioned in the documentation.
I will tell you that I did get a similar thing running in redhat 8.0,
But SUSe has a strange(what is strange to me) way of doing things. The
/dev/input/keyboard device is cool because when you plug in a USB
keyboard it also becomes /dev/input/keyboard. So effectively your ps/2
and USB keyboards become one device. cool.
The same applies to mice /dev/input/mice is the device for both the ps/2
and USB mice. I split these /dev/input/mouse0 and /dev/input/mouse1.
Now how can I split the two keyboard devices. I believe that /dev/kbd is
the root device for the PS/2 but I still have a bit of trouble with it
on this device failing to respond.
I am trying to run XFree86 with 2 server layout options, layout0 and
layout1. The USB keyboard and mouse are special devices they working but
I have to boot with the PS/2 keyboard and mouse unplugged and the reboot
to put them back and vise versa with the USB devices.
So when I start X with layout0 it will use the default ps/2 kbd and ps/2
mouse, layout1 must use the USB keyb oard and USB mouse. So in an X
session the the two keyboards must not coexist, as this messes the fancy
keyboard up. I also do not want both to be available in the same
session.
I have got the mice working but the device and drivers for the keyboards
are trouble some, could some one steer to the devices for the these
keyboards ?
Thanks
